Entry Criteria for Holy Mary Sixth Form
All students applying to enter Holy Mary Sixth Form from a British school must have obtained at least five GCSE or IGCSE qualifications at grade C (or 4 on the new 9–1 scale). These must include First Language English and Mathematics.
Students applying from a non-British school will typically need to pass our entry exams in the A Level subjects they wish to study at Holy Mary. It is highly recommended that students have previously studied any subject they plan to take at A Level at IGCSE level or an equivalent. It is also worth noting that students entering any A Level are far more likely to succeed if they have achieved grades higher than C at GCSE or IGCSE.
All students are also required to be motivated and happy to participate in our small school community. This includes taking part in our compulsory curriculum of Physical Education and Religion, as well as engaging in co-curricular and house competitions, community service, fundraising, and generally participating in our spiritual life programme.
In the spring term, current Year 11 students complete a short application outlining their intentions and ambitions. This is followed by a brief interview with a member of senior staff during the summer term, in which we discuss curriculum decisions and the suitability of potential A Level subject choices.
New students follow our admissions procedure (more details are available in the Parent Handbook for prospective students), which typically includes a similar interview with our Headteacher.
