Discussing a text called ‘The Gorilla’

The Year 2 pupils have been learning and discussing a text called ‘The Gorilla’ written by the famous author, Anthony Browne. We have been debating if animals should be kept in zoos. Inspired by this great book and by important  political speakers of history, Winston Churchill and Martin Luther King, the children considered how to persuade their audience with vivid language and conviction. Year 2 did an excellent job by using appropriate language typically used in a debate as they prepared their speeches. They then took turns to deliver their speech to their classmates.
