A welcome message from the Headteacher

Choosing the right school for your children is one of the most important decisions parents make. At Holy Mary we aim to make that decision easy for you. If you would like your child to be taught by UK trained and experienced teachers, to become truly bilingual within English and Spanish, to finish their schooling with British qualifications which facilitate access to top UK and Spanish universities, to enjoy throughout their schooling the benefits of a close community where everyone knows everyone else, all within the values structure of a Catholic education in the 21st century, all of which leads our pupils to become confident, polite, multi-lingual, interpersonally skilled, academically equipped, and digitally aware global citizens, then Holy Mary is the school for your child.

This year the oldest class in Holy Mary is Year 11. They are working hard and being prepared this year to produce our first set of external examination results (the IGCSEs; International General Certificate of Secondary Education) which form the first layer of pre-university certification within the British system of education. In order to help facilitate their work and preparation the secondary section has just moved into our new, 6 floor, secondary building which is located adjacent to our current buildings in calle Cinca and which contains modern, well-equipped specialist areas for science, art and computing. Concisely, the Holy Mary educational journey begins in our Pre-nursery to Year 2 building at calle Condes del Val 12 – a beautiful converted palace previously owned by the Spanish artist Joaquin Sorolla – and then transfers to our single Year 3 to Year 11 site at calles Cinca 20-22 and Arga 17-19. Part of the school’s mission is to become the school of choice for Madrid families. Our new secondary building, forming an extension to the existing site and designed to also house a new pre-university section for our future Year 12 and Year 13 pupils, is a sign of the drive and determination that we have to offer a brilliant British educational experience in the heart of this magnificent cosmopolitan city, while protecting the sense of safety and security generated by our unique family-oriented organisation and community.

Educationally and spiritually, Holy Mary British Catholic School prepares young people to enjoy a happy and successful future.
