{"id":32,"date":"2017-04-29T13:43:46","date_gmt":"2017-04-29T11:43:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.holymary.es\/?page_id=32"},"modified":"2017-06-29T15:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-06-29T13:00:00","slug":"nursery-foundation-stage","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.holymary.es\/en\/academic-excellence\/nursery-foundation-stage\/","title":{"rendered":"Early Years and Foundation Stage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Through a <strong>combination of play, creative activities and structured lessons<\/strong>, children are encouraged to develop knowledge, skills and understanding in a range of areas.<\/p>\n<p>We aim to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide a happy, friendly and secure environment where each child can maximise their potential.<\/li>\n<li>Develop children\u00b4s cognitive, affective, psychomotor skills which gives them confidence in their ability<\/li>\n<li>Help children develop social and behavioural skills so they can relate to other children and adults appropriately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Our curriculum is carefully planned<\/strong> so that by the time the children enter the primary department, each child has experienced six areas of learning through the Early Years Foundation Stage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A typical school day in the Early Years Foundation stage<\/strong> begins at 9:00am where children are expected to arrive to school. There are two hour long lessons and a break time. Lunch time is for an hour and following this, there are two further lessons. Children in Nursery One and Two will have a siesta after lunch time.<br \/>\nLanguage and Maths lessons are always scheduled in the morning, and more creative activities will take place in the afternoon.
