During Art Week,<\/strong> each Year Group explored the work of a different Latin American artist and created their own artworks inspired by their style and techniques. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about art from across Latin America while experimenting with new materials, approaches, and ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the week, pupils developed their creativity in fun and engaging ways, building on the artistic skills they have been developing in art lessons. The artists and activities were carefully selected to align with each year group\u2019s curriculum and stage of development, ensuring that all children could access and enjoy the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nursery 1<\/strong> focused on the work of Rufino Tamayo from Mexico, exploring Modernism through bold colours and rich textures, while Nursery 2 <\/strong>learned about Brazilian artist Lygia Pape, experimenting with Neo-Concrete ideas, viewer participation, and playful exploration. In Reception<\/strong>, children studied the contemporary abstract work of Beatriz Milhazes, also from Brazil, using bold colours and organic shapes to inspire their creations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Key Stage 1, Year 1<\/strong> explored the work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, focusing on Surrealism and Symbolism to express personal stories, identity, and emotions. Year 2<\/strong> studied Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Diez, learning about Op Art and Kinetic Art through the use of colour, movement, and geometric patterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Key Stage 2, Year 3<\/strong> discovered the symbolic and imaginative work of Argentinian artist Xul Solar. Year 4<\/strong> explored expressive painting through the work of Ecuadorian artist Nicol\u00e1s Herrera, combining figurative and abstract elements. Year 5<\/strong> learned about Pop Art through the work of Argentinian artist Marta Minuj\u00edn, focusing on bold ideas and large-scale creative expression. Finally, Year 6<\/strong> studied Ecuadorian artist Oswaldo Guayasam\u00edn, exploring Social Realism and Expressionism, and reflecting on themes of human emotion and suffering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art Week was a celebration of creativity, culture, and artistic expression. The children showed great enthusiasm and pride in their work, and we are extremely proud of the thoughtful and imaginative artworks they produced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
