On Monday the 8th of February, we held our annual public speaking competition from Year 1 up to Year 9. The competition encourages pupils to speak in front of others in an engaging manner – something we develop throughout our curriculum at Holy Mary. The pupils spoke about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and themes ranged from the serious (loss of families and friends) to the silly (the lack of toilet paper!). The speaking standard was exceptionally high and all finalists showed real courage and confidence when delivering their presentations. The competition this year was a little different since classes are confined to their classrooms but we successfully held the event online. Year 11 watched the competition from their classroom and commented on how high the standard was. Huge congratulations go to all winners and participants! Very well done!
