Reception’s ‘Free-flow’ time in the patio

During free-flow time Reception children learnt all about graphemes. They have been playing a game of “Grapheme and CVC Word Splat”. They use the swatter to splat the CVC word they would like to read ¨D o g. Dog!¨. This is a game Reception children like to play during their free-flow time and it is a game which reinforces the phonics knowledge the children have been learning in the classroom.

The children love learning how to form their graphemes correctly. They use the whiteboards and pens to practice forming the letters they have learnt in class.

During free-flow the children also get to play lots of team games. For example, the parachute game which helps them to build up their listening and cooperation skills.
