After reading The Gingerbread Man, the children took part in two hands-on activities inspired by the story. First, they made their own gingerbread men using salt dough, helping to measure and mix ingredients, knead and roll the dough, and cut out their shapes. This helped develop their fine motor skills, hand strength and coordination.
They also explored primary colours using cotton pads and pipettes, watching red, yellow and blue spread and mix to create new colours. As they observed the changes, they practised describing what they saw and learned new vocabulary, including mix, spread, green, purple and orange.
