Anti-bullying Week

In Holy Mary we work hard to ensure that all of our children feel happy and safe. Last week was Anti-Bullying week and so we took the opportunity to encourage all pupils, parents and teachers to take action against bullying throughout the year. We all came to school wearing odd socks one day to show that we are united against bullying. Wearing odd socks also highlighted how we are all different, unique and special. It was a fantastic day and it was great to see the children complimenting each other and discussing their sock choices.

Throughout the week each class spent some time discussing the little differences between being mean one day or one patio and being a bully. We talked about speaking to an adult in school or at home if they are worried about themselves or someone in their class and we also watched newsround to see what other children around the world were doing to raise awareness of Anti-Bullying.

On the last day of the official Anti-Bullying week we had a carousel day. In For example, Year 3 they designed and decorated a card and a cookie for someone else in their class. They wrote a special message about their chosen person and we discussed how receiving a unique and personalised card and biscuit made them all feel very special.

All of the children commented on what a fantastic day they had with their different teachers and different activities.
