Our recent history trip to Budapest was an enlightening experience which offered the students great insight into some key areas of modern European history.
The students were great ambassadors for Holy Mary and impressed all of our tour guides with their in-depth knowledge of both the Nazi and Soviet occupations of Budapest in the 20th century. The Holocaust Memorial Museum and the House of Terror, in particular, placed a real emphasis on the complete lack of humanity in the atrocities performed by the Nazis and Soviets in Budapest.
Although these are tough themes to deal with, these educational experiences (some of them delivered first-hand from people who lived under Soviet occupation) allowed the students to contextualise their History studies and return to Madrid with an enriched appreciation of the effects of 20th century ideology in Europe.
