The sacrament of confirmation completes the sacrament of baptism. If baptism is the sacrament of re-birth to a new and supernatural life, confirmation is the sacrament of maturity and coming of age.
Our Year 12 students began preparations last term for their confirmation which will take place next March. The students have formed a “confirmation prayer group” where they are meeting monthly to discuss faith and the sacrament which they will receive, all in addition to the catechist sessions delivered at school. The students really enjoyed a meeting dedicated to a discussion about forgiveness – which was compared to a heavy bag we carry if we don’t forgive.
