Year 13 graduation

The first ever Holy Mary Graduation Ceremony took place in the evening of Monday 21st June 2021. The venue was the Museo Lázaro Galdiano in c/ Serrano, which offered the use of an indoor theatre for the presentations and speeches and a beautiful scenic garden area for the cocktails following the ceremony. Covid protocols dictated a limited presence of both family members and teaching staff, but that did not prevent the ceremony from proving to be a heartfelt celebration of the Holy Mary school careers of the 19 graduating pupils. Speeches were made by the Headteacher, two parents who had placed their children in Holy Mary for all of the 12 years of Holy Mary’s existence, the Head Boy and Head Girl, the owners and co-founders – Marta & María Riva – and, of course, Padre Jorge closed the ceremony by reminding everyone who we are and our place in this world. From September the location of these 19 young adults as they begin their university careers varies. We will be able to find them in various universities in Madrid, the USA, Navarra, Holland, or Milan. But despite the kilometres between them they intend to use their Covid-honed online abilities to remain in touch with each other.

This event was indeed a special event for Marta & María Riva. It was a dream come true. There were several young adults up on stage who Marta and Maria had first met as 5 or 6 year old infants. Following the ceremony, outside in the garden area, all the parents wanted to personally thank Marta & Maria for the educational and values-driven provision that has been offered to their children while attending Holy Mary British Catholic School.
