Our sports offer this year has automatically been enhanced by the acquisition of two qualified and Madrid-experienced teachers of Physical Education (PE). The sports and fitness coverage offered by our PE curriculum has never been better! Outside of school we will continue from last year with our termly house competitions based at the Pradillo Polideportivo. One improvement on last year however, is the fact that this year we also have access to an all weather fútbol-7 surface as well as their “pabellón” (a small indoor gym). This facilitates a wider sport selection when we choose to hold a house competition. Finally, we are making a huge effort to generate a sports competition programme with other British/international schools in Madrid. So far this term we have played quick cricket (Yr 7 at St George’s), futbol sala (Yr 11 boys at ISM), and basketball (Yr 4 at Richmond Park). We will also be hosting a tag rugby workshop and tournament very soon. We are making a determined effort to raise the profile of PE and sport at Holy Mary.
Year 9 Cricket House Competition
Excellent performances across all the Houses for Year 9. An overwhelming win from Concordia, followed by a tight second place draw between Virtus and Magnanimus. A big congratulations to our individual award winners.
Year 10 & 11 Tag Rugby
High quality performances across all age groups in Tag Rugby. Some fantastic dodging and tag snatching, but there can only be one winner in House. Well done to Year 10 Audax and Year 11 Magnanimous for their brilliant victories.
Year 12&13
Year 12&13 have been exploring different ways to develop their skills and fitness in our Thursday Physical Activity sessions. Some activities include: Football, Volleyball, Fitness and Tennis.
